Taking an exam in Canada when studying by correspondence in France

The French Consulates, in addition to the French Embassy in Ottawa (where Campus France offices are localed) cannot host supervised exams.

However, the network of Alliances Françaises in Canada, whose branches function legally as Canadian institutions, is able to supervise your exam on behalf of organizations and under certain conditions.

Candidates must register with the  nearest the Alliance Française to them as soon as they know the dates and conditions of their exams.

The following fees for application processing and examinations apply to each candidate:

-  up to 250$ CAD per academic session and per candidate, depending of the Alliances Françaises, for applying (includes administrative fees, telephone calls, emails, photocopies, mailing of copies) to open an offshore examination centre. The fees are to be paid at the time of application and are non-refundable.

- up to $25 CAD (depending of the Alliances Françaises): Supervision fee, per hour and per candidate. This fee must also be paid at the time of application and is non-refundable

Lastly, the exams must take place during the Alliance Française business hours and will not be subject to efforts to synchronize with exams in France.

DELF-DALF logo

The DELF (Diplôme d'études en langue française) and DALF (Diplôme approfondi en langue française) are a set of diplomas awarded by the French Ministry of Education to assess language skills of people whose first language is not French. They are designed by the Centre International d'Etudes Pédagogiques (CIEP), and in accordance with the six levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). They are used and recognized all over the world.

The DALF gives access to French universities and to a growing number of European and French-speaking universities. With the DELF B2, you are also exempt to take the pre-admission French language tests (TCF-DAP) if you wish to enter in the first stage of university studies in France.

There are DELF-DALF exam centres in 175 countries, including 39 in Canada.
